BOULDER, Colo. -- The No. 15/16 Vanderbilt women's basketball team opens its 2006-07 regular season schedule on the road against Colorado on Sunday, Nov. 12. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT.

Head Coach Melanie Balcomb enters her fifth season at the helm of the Commodores, who went 21-11 last year and earned their seventh consecutive berth to the NCAA Tournament.

The Commodore lineup is highlighted by three seniors -- point guard Dee Davis, sharpshooter Caroline Williams and post Carla Thomas. Davis earned first-team All-Southeastern Conference honors after leading the league with 6.8 assists per game.

Williams is one of the most-feared shooters in the nation. She has been in the top two in three-point field goal percentage for the past two seasons, leading the SEC last year in 3s made per game (3.0). Thomas was named to preseason All-SEC second-team last month after leading the Commodores in scoring a year ago. She surpassed the 1,000-point plateau in her junior season and ranks 19th all-time in scoring at Vanderbilt.

VU's roster also features three other impressive returnees -- junior Liz Sherwood and sophomores Christina Wirth and Jennifer Risper -- and six lauded newcomers. Five true freshmen and redshirt Amy Malo all are expected to make an impact for the Dores this season.

The Commodores are 3-0 all-time against Colorado. The teams played twice in Nashville during 2001, with the Commodores defeating the Buffaloes in the 2001 NCAA Tournament and again in the 2001 preseason NIT. Vanderbilt's lone trip to Boulder resulted in a 79-69 victory in 2001.

Vanderbilt cruised through its 2006 preseason schedule, winning two games by an average of 28.5 points. Wirth, Thomas, Sherwood and Williams all averaged double-figures, while Davis dished out 6.5 assists per game.

While the Commodores begin the season against Colorado, the Buffaloes opened their regular season on Friday with a 62-56 win over San Fransisco in Boulder. The Buffs were led by a 22-point effort from sophomore center Kara Richards.

Sunday's game can be heard live in Nashville on WNSR-560 AM with 11-year veteran Charlie Mattos bringing the call. The game is also available on Yahoo! Sports live broadcast via the Internet.
