STARKVILLE, Miss. -- The No. 12/13 Vanderbilt women's basketball team travels to face Mississippi State on Thursday, Feb. 15, for a 7 p.m. tip at Humphrey Coliseum.

The Commodores and Lady Bulldogs currently stand fifth and sixth, respectively, in the Southeastern Conference -- each with four games remaining. Vanderbilt (21-4, 7-3 SEC) holds a tenuous one-game edge over Mississippi State (16-9, 6-4) in the league standings.

Vanderbilt has won four straight SEC games, including convincing wins over Arkansas (61-34), Alabama (91-51) and Auburn (80-45), and a thrilling last-second victory at Kentucky (63-62) thanks to senior point guard Dee Davis' last-second drive and game-winning lay-up.

Senior forward Carla Thomas moved into seventh place on Vanderbilt's career scoring chart with a game-high 15 points Sunday against Auburn. The Mechanicburg, Pa., native is averaging 16.4 points per game this season -- good for fourth place in the SEC. The Commodores' trio of outstanding seniors is capped by Caroline Williams, who leads the conference in three-point shooting.

On the other hand, Mississippi State's roster features no seniors and only one active junior -- forward Imesia Jackson -- as Miayorka Johnson is out with an injury and Donnisha Tate is sitting out the 2006-07 campaign. The Lady Bulldogs are expected to start three freshmen, including guard Alexis Rack, who is averaging 12.6 points per game in conference play.

Two years ago in Starkville, Thomas posted a career-high 33 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Commodores to a 106-98 double-overtime win over the Lady Bulldogs, negating a 47-point effort from MSU's Tan White.

Vanderbilt returns to Nashville after Thursday's contest to host its final two home games of the year -- Sunday, Feb. 18 vs. South Carolina and Thursday, Feb. 22 vs. LSU -- before traveling to Knoxville to close out the regular season at in-state rival Tennessee.
