Men's Tennis wraps up home matches this weekend

The Vanderbilt Commodores host their last weekend of regular season home matches this Friday and Sunday against #14 Ole Miss and #10 Mississippi State.

With the end of the home slate come Senior Day on Sunday, where the team will honor seniors Alex DiValerio and Charlie Jones for their four years with the team.

Jones will again lead his Commodores, as the #47 ranked player in the nation and the co-team leader for wins with a 12-6 record for the dual season. Gonzales Austin, who has played in the No. 2 position for the Dores all season, also holds a 12-6 record in his freshman spring season.

Jones is 21-10 on the year, while Austin is 19-11 and fellow freshman Jeff Offerdahl is 18-11.

The Commodores are 7-11 (2-6) and looking to snap a three-match slide headed into the weekend against two top-15 ranked teams. Ole Miss brings with them four ranked individuals and four ranked pairs, while the Bulldogs also have four ranked individuals. Both the Rebs and the Bulldogs have a top-20 player, with Nik Scholtz representing Ole Miss as the #19 player, and Artem Ilyushin playing for Mississippi State as the #15 ranked individual.

The match on Friday against Ole Miss begins at 3:30 at the Currey Tennis Center, and the Dores take on Mississippi State on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. CT.
