Athlon Offering Limited Commodore Covers
March 28, 2007
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - For years, Vanderbilt football fans have stared at SEC preseason college football magazines that feature covers with too much orange. Well, Commodore fans, Athlon Sports is coming to your rescue.
For the first time in the magazine's 39-year history, Athlon is offering a limited edition Vanderbilt custom cover on their 2007 Preseason College Football Magazine. Annually, the Athlon's guide is regarded as one of the most thorough, offering in-depth looks at the SEC and every other college football conference.
Photographers from the magazine were on campus last month to shoot the Vanderbilt cover image. It features three Commodore standouts: junior Earl Bennett, an All-America receiver prospect; senior Jonathan Goff, a Butkus Award candidate; and junior Chris Nickson, the team's returning starter at quarterback.
"Each year, we hear from fans of several teams clamoring for their favorite team on our cover. Because of traditional distribution outlets, we've been unable to satisfy many fans -- like those of Vanderbilt in particular. Now we have what we believe is a solution that Commodore fans will really enjoy," Athlon Sports' Editorial Director Charlie Miller said.
Athlon's plan to print the Commodore custom covers requires that at least 1,000 magazines are purchased prior to the April 5 deadline.
Commodore fans can purchase the limited edition magazine at $6.99 each at the following website: (Note: When you arrive at the link, click on the Vanderbilt cover to proceed with your order)
