NASHVILLE --- Ole Miss starting pitcher Lance Lynn limited Vanderbilt to just one hit in eight innings to lead his team to a 6-1 win in front of 2,475 fans at Hawkins Field Saturday afternoon.

The Commodores dropped to 20-1 overall and 1-1 in the SEC, while the Rebels evened the three game series and improved to 15-6 overall and 1-1 in conference action.

Lynn (2-2) carried a no-hitter into the eighth when David Macias singled with one out in the inning. Matt Meingasner, who reached base on an error to lead off the inning, scored on a RBI groundout by Dominic de la Osa for the Commodores first run of the game.

He allowed one unearned run on one hit with five strikeouts and three walks in eight innings of work. Craig Rodriguez closed out the game with a hitless ninth.

"We just ran into a buzz saw today," said Vanderbilt head coach Tim Corbin. "Lynn was sharp, he was throwing his fastball inside for strikes and jamming us. We just never got anything going."

Ole Miss plated three runs on four hits in the first to take a 3-0 lead. Jordan and Justin Henry led off the games with singles and Jordan then scored on a wild pitch by Nick Christiani. Zack Cozart followed with a RBI single and eventually scored himself on a RBI infield single by Cody Overbeck to close out the scoring.

The Rebels added two more runs in the second to make it 5-0. Logan Power led off the inning with a single and after a groundout, Jordan Henry reached on an infield single setting up his brother Justin Henry who brought both home with a triple into the leftfield corner.

Christiani gave up a season high five runs in 3.1 innings on seven hits with a strikeout and a walk.

Ole Miss added another run in the sixth to make it 6-0. Logan Power singled, advanced to second on a sac bunt and stole third and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jordan Henry.

Cody Crowell gave up one run on four hits in 5.2 innings of relief.

The Commodores and Rebels will play the rubber game of the series tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. Sophomore righthander Brett Jacobson (4-0, 2.33 ERA) will take the mound for VU, while Mississippi will counter with sophomore southpaw Brett Bukvich (3-1, 2.10 ERA).
